Compiling a catalogue of food writers of today is what they call making a rod for my own back. Even as I write, the ever-growing list expands exponentially. Not to mention those we’ve not even heard of yet who are sitting at a desk right now signing a deal with a publisher. Or those who just this instant have turned on their computers, opened a blank document and headed it “My Revolutionary Book About Food”. And what about those foodies not yet born … still only a glint in their parents’ eyes as they open the second bottle of red?
In other words it’s an impossible, never to be finished task (rather like this blog). Here is where I hope my readers, if readers there are, help me out. If you know of food writers unmentioned, or even unmentionable, fledgling food writers worth a mention, or, after looking through this page, are disappointed not to find a favourite, please do let me know. And, better still, if any readers are in fact food writers (and I hope you are among us) and have searched in vain for your mug shot, let me know and I’ll rectify the situation instantly.
Another caveat: as time moves on, as it does relentlessly, there will be some food writers of today who will slide gracefully off the perch and become food writers of the past. Families of such people may understandably take offence at finding their late loved ones still listed among the living, so again, please let me know if I miss such events.
